QRoutes is map based software to help you quickly create optimised transport plans. You load the trip requests (who needs to go where and when) and use QRoutes’ tools and features to schedule those requests.
In QRoutes, we use Route to refer to a vehicle itinerary or sequence of pick-up and drop-off points and Solution to refer to the overall transport plan (a collection of routes).
Getting started
The requirement needs to be specified in a QRoutes File, a Comma-seperated Values (CSV) format file which can be produced by most spreadsheet and database applications. The Prepare QRoutes File function under the Prepare Data menu will guide you through this process.
Data that is already in a QRoutes format can be loaded by selecting the Upload file button or dragging the file into the drag box.
Once the data is loaded QRoutes is intuitive and fun to use.
Pop-up dialog boxes
You can always take any of the following actions when a pop-up dialog box appears:
Data security
It is impossible for anybody, even a QRoutes administrator, to access any data uploaded by you to QRoutes.
The software doesn't store any data between sessions and so you should ensure you save your results before the end of the session.

Windows 7 with Internet Explorer version 8-10 is no longer supported by QRoutes.
QRoutes now uses TLS1.2 security, this newer protocol is not supported by older versions of Internet Explorer.
Users of IE11 may also have the same issue of accessing QRoutes if the version of IE11 is set to emulate an earlier version, commonly version 8 or 9.
An option around this is to use the Google Chrome browser to access the QRoutes application. However, this is not guaranteed to work and may be affected by network security’s and firewall setting within your network.

Some Internet Explorer users will get this error message when trying to login to QRoutes.
The error message is produced if the version of Internet Explorer is too old to support the security protocols required by QRoutes.
The user should upgrade their version of Internet Explorer as described here.
Microsoft Edge
Version 38.14 and above.

In some cases, the MS browser you are using may be set to emulate an earlier version. This is not uncommon if security updates are not up to date. To check this open your MS browser and press F12. Find the Emulation tab and look at the Document Mode, if that does not default to the version currently running this may have an effect on QRoutes.
Chrome
Version 55.0.xxxx and above.

Internet Explorer is no longer supported although version 10 and above may work with all security updates installed.

1: Open an internet browser and go to the QRoutes log-in page.
2: Enter your username (please email support@qroutes.co.uk if you have forgotten this).
3: If you have forgotten the password press the Reset Password button. QRoutes will send a link to a webpage where you can reset the password to the email address registered to the username entered.
No.
QRoutes is provided from secure data centres managed by iomart. The data centres have extensive perimeter protection and no iomart hosted services were affected by the ransomware attacks in May 2017.
iomart has published an e-book if you want to know more about protecting your organisation from ransomware.
Only an Admin user has access to this information. They can see the list of users by going to Settings, then Information, and then Account Information.
The Admin user can also manage users from here - freeing up licenses from inactive users and assigning them to new users.
QRoutes produces this message when the distance or time of one or more of the routes being loaded is calculated to be different to the values recorded in the file.
This is normally because the average road speeds associated with some or all sections of roads have changed, although it is possible the route itself has changed slightly, e.g. from the introduction of a mini-roundabout.
Please see the Map timings change message video for more details.
The planner is presented with two options:
QRoutes standard data limits for any Solution are 1500 passengers, 100 vehicles and 10 locations.
QRoutes will allow you to upload a file with more than 1500 passengers but won't let you schedule more than that number in one go.
If you have more than 100 vehicles set up in a fleet the application will only use up to the first 100 vehicles in a Solution.
If the QRoutes File has more than 10 destination locations the application will only schedule to the first 10 locations.
Account holders can request a change in these limits if they are significantly compromising their use of the application by raising a support ticket.
This is a problem with Excel retaining the format of the .csv file. This can affect any .csv file used in QRoutes, not only the QRoutes File but also overlays, stops or vehicle files. Often it will happen if lines of data have been removed by using Clear contents or if data has been re-entered in a used cell.
The problem is that Excel will remove the content but keep the formatting. When this is imported into QRoutes, it appears as empty cells in the data.
QRoutes will display the error message
Failed to parse input file: Failed to decode binding value '' for property 'viewUniqueId' on bean 'booking'
Or just show an empty import screen. There are two methods to correct this,
1. Copy the data into a new QRoutes File (or other file template as required), then import this new file.
2. Open the .csv file in Notepad and remove any commas at the end of the dataset. Then save and try again to import the file.
Yes, QRoutes has a two-stage process to do this:
1. Click on the passenger icon that you are looking to remove to open the passenger information. Select the Unallocate passenger(s) from route option and apply it. The passenger icon will change from the numbered passenger icon to a grey unallocated icon with a letter.
2. Click on the now unallocated icon to open the passenger information again and select Delete passenger from solution option and apply.
When you download the results file the passenger's data will still be there but with no pickup time or route number.
Yes, QRoutes will create the reverse of your routes, generating the outbound itineraries (those from common sources) given the inbound itineraries (those to common destinations) or vice versa. See Reverse Solution in the Schedule help for more information.
In general, yes.
If the browser has been closed for more than 10 minutes QRoutes will cancel the scheduling. On the other hand, if the user logs back in quickly enough their scheduling may still be active and will complete as per normal.
Yes, but it takes some setting up.
1. First set up a new Passenger Type for the passenger, e.g.Oxygen User and set the Vehicle Accommodation type to Stop.
2. Next modify or create a vehicle layout to accommodate the new passenger type using Stop, e.g. the vehicle can accommodate 13 single seats and 2 Stop.
3. Finally ensure the relevant passenger types are set to the new Passenger Type in the QRoutes File and schedule using a Fleet with the modified vehicle(s).
Please see the Assign a passenger to a specific vehicle video for more details.
Yes. Please see the dedicated help page Planning bag deliveries.
Yes, there are two ways to go about this:
Yes, you can generate a PDF report summarising the solution and providing an itinerary and map for each individual route. The button to do so is in the Results menu on the Map Screen.
Not all road locations are covered by Google Street View, for example some roads may be on private land or Google may not have the permission to show the image.
The Street View image database is owned and maintained by Google and QRoutes has no influence on what is shown.
